Ugh

May 10, 2011

Just having one of those no-good, everything-is-a-stupid-face, dumb-dumb-dumb days. Can’t help but be sad and mad and just plain pissed off sometimes. I’m sorry world, today I’ll try to keep to myself… starting now.

Fill in the blank Friday

February 18, 2011

Happy Friday people. Ummm, I’m pretty excited for this long (Canadian) weekend. I’m trying to subdue my excitement so I don’t wear myself out before lunch. Maybe a nap later…

1. I am: an optimist, an old softie, excitable, and usually hungry.

2. The bravest thing I’ve ever done was: Yell at someone for something bad they did? I’d like to have a good answer for this… but instead here’s a quote: “Courage is knowing danger and taking it on; audacity is ignoring the situation and jumping in.”

3. I feel prettiest when: it’s really sunny. Also, hand holding times don’t hurt either.

4. Something that keeps me awake at night is: nightmares about snakes.

5. My favorite meal in the entire world is: impossible to choose. But, if I was being executed and given a last meal I would want: nachos with guacamole and sour cream, rare steak, mashed potatoes, fried chicken, broccoli, cheese sauce and rolo ice cream. I’m lactose intolerant but I’m going to die soon anyway… (And sour cream and onion chips, and a pink Popsicle and fruit punch)

6. The way to my heart is: easy if you’re honest (Also easy if you are a kitten).

7. I would like to: sky dive, work at a design agency, draw more portraits, and go for a walk to the dog park. Crazy, scary, fun, and easy. I like to have practical dreams mixed in with ‘one day’ dreams.

Good Ol’ Sailor Vodka. Sweden’s first vodka in PET bottle, and it’s organic. Design by Mattias Brodén. Found at The Dieline.

(Ews, I just read that this sort of looks like Ed Hardy : | ).

Laundromat

September 7, 2010

I used to think that going to the laundromat would be fun. Meet strangers, do laundry in public, people watching and reading magazines. And it WAS pretty fun the first few times. I went with my roommate and we would get snacks and go for walks and read free magazines.

Now it’s lost all of it’s charm. Now doing laundry means carting my dirty clothes into public despite wind, snow or hail (well, really if it’s hailing then I say ‘fuck laundry’). Using up all my awesome quarters just so I can appear tidy. Having to be sneaky and steal the single table and pair of chairs for myself, so I don’t have to stand in dryer isle like a sucker. Trying not to use the dingy old wheel-y laundry baskets. Finding strange leftovers in my load from other peoples washes…

Yeah laundry, I used to love you. But you’ve changed.

Make it work

March 2, 2010

Hey,

I am staring down the business end of my ‘thesis’ year end project and procrastinating myself into a hole. I made a really awesome colour coordinated list and calendar chart to keep myself on track. Today is day 2 of the last 10 days left to complete this odyssey. I’m hoping after this last bit of putting it off, that I will finish my tasks for today. It’s not too daunting day by day, but when things pile up, it is scary beyond belief.

I keep thinking that saying ‘I’m wasting time’ out loud will make me work harder.

I am very scared to have the finished products shown to family, friends, classmates and professionals… I just don’t want it to be shit!

Anyway,

Should get back to work now.
I CAN DO IT!

Ps. Thanks for listening to my personal pep-talk. Here’s a picture! (postcard by me)

In the real world…

finding an old man peeing on your doorstep is gross (true story). Therefore, this t-shirt is awesome. From Howl clothing via HeyCrazy.

Seasonal Anxiety

November 29, 2009

I live in Canada,

There are no igloos (most places), and there used to be lots more snow but it is still freezing! I’m bundled up in fur, flannel and faux leather but I’m still shaking in my boots when I go outside and it’s under 5 degrees Celsius. Anyway, have any tips on staying warm this winter? Hot totties? Big dogs? Snuggies? How do you stay warm, and sane?

Another startling thing: the next time it’s warm enough to wear an off-the-shoulder tee, I will be finished my degree. OH MY HELLO REALITY.

(Ps. Check out these sweet videos me and some friends made for an intro to video class. Videos begin at 20 second mark. We are a little obsessed with white, pink, blue and cute.)

Clients from Hell

If you design/make/illustrate/program things… you get it.
Clients from Hell, hilarious and sadly… so real.

Gratuitous tv

November 9, 2009

Upon request of a friend, I was watching the first episode of Californication. No comment, except to say that I loved the soundtrack, especially the My Morning Jacket cover of Rocket Man. I didn’t realize how sad that song could be. I love covers.

Anyway, listen to, but don’t watch this youtube video because it’s boring.

I miss the earth so much, I miss my wife… And I think it’s gonna be a long long time, ‘Till touch down brings me round again to find, I’m not the man they think I am at home…

Today was the worst day of my life. And then all of a sudden it was a really great day… and then I remembered the earlier part. The little things in life and love really do add up to a lot.
